Leseprobe
2.1 System requirements
Before you install Analysis Office, check if the following components are installed on your local machine:
- Microsoft Office 2010, Microsoft Office 2013, Microsoft Office 2016, Microsoft Office 2019 or Office 365
- Microsoft .Net Framework 4.5 Redistributable Package
Microsoft .Net Framework
During installation, the setup checks whether Microsoft .Net Framework 4.5 is installed. If not, a link is provided to download the .Net Framework. The setup also checks whether Primary Interop Assemblies are installed. If not, the setup installs the components automatically.
I recommend taking a look at SAP Note 1466118—”Hardware & Software requirements for Advanced Analysis”—which explains the hardware and software requirements for SAP Analysis, the edition for Microsoft Office.
The SAP GUI installation is not mandatory on your client. If you use Analysis Office only as a reporting application, you can skip the installation as well as the BW add-on installation for the BEx tools. Nevertheless, I suggest installing the SAP GUI and the BEx tools because when you want to change or create a new query, you need the BEx Query Designer. Otherwise, you need to use the Eclipse-based Query Designer, in which case you do not need the SAP GUI. You also need the SAP GUI if you want to use the Report-Report-Interface (for more information see Section 5.8).
A local copy of SAPLOGON.INI is required if you want to connect to an SAP NetWeaver BW. If you want to switch directly from Analysis Office to BEx Query Designer (see Section 5.15.3), you need to install the SAP GUI and the BEx tools. As data sources, you can use SAP NetWeaver 7.0 or a higher release, BW/4HANA, SAP HANA or SAP Analytics Cloud models.
Report-Report-Interface (RRI)
If you want to use the Report-Report-Interface (RRI) to jump directly to an SAP transaction, you need to install the SAP GUI on your client. However, be aware that only the web interface is available.
